Welcome to the first part of our new series, "Old Isaac's Trail to Tranquility", showing us how to live a life of inner peace and free of negative emotions.

Sometimes, a body suffers but doesn't know why. Is it a virus, a bacteria, some other destructive organism? In similar manner, the soul suffers too and also doesn't know why, but the person is inexplicably down or depressed for no apparent reason. More times than not, the culprit is jealousy, when a person sees him/herself as less successful than someone else. Jealousy is a lot more rampant than Coronavirus; what's worse, social distancing, masks and washing your hands can't prevent it. But, today's podcast can - hear this and with Hashem's help,  you'll feel much better.

The Midrash tells us we are a whole made out of two halves: the mammal or bodily half of us is the physical half. The other half is known as the neshama - the soul - our spiritual half. The more our lives focus on the body, the more we resemble an animal. The more our lives focus on the neshama, the more we resemble an archangel.

A spiritual antiviral that's effective against coronavirus? Here's hope:
In a mad rush to prevent the global pandemic of coronavirus, researchers are looking for all types of defensive measures, such as boosting people's immune systems and looking for antibodies that prevent the penetration of coronavirus into healthy human cells. The difficulty of coronavirus is that its protein-like spikes serve as daggers that pierce and penetrate healthy cells. From a spiritual standpoint, though, I would take an offensive measure, and use a spiritual equivalent of what the pharmaceutical world calls antivirals, substances that fight off viral infections by attacking the viruses themselves. The power that knocked down the impregnable walls of Jericho can surely knock down the walls of the coronavirus.

A parable about the power of loving your fellow human being...

For everything in the physical word, there is an equivalent in the spiritual world. In fact, the spiritual equivalent is the source and spiritual root of that object in the physical world. For example, the same way that the light of the sun acts in photosynthesis to sustain a plant, Divine light acts upon a soul to sustain it in a strikingly similar manner.
